TORONTO -- "Gospel Hill," the directorial debut of Giancarlo Esposito, will open the ninth edition of the ReelWorld Film Festival on April 15, organizers said Wednesday.

The U.S. indie, about a decades-old investigation into the death of a civil rights leader, stars Danny Glover and Angela Bassett and also features Esposito, Julia Stiles, Taylor Kitsch and Nia Long.

The brainchild of actress Tonya Lee Williams ("The Young & the Restless"), the Toronto showcase for culturally diverse filmmakers will close April 19 with the Bollywood romantic comedy "Aloo Chaat," directed by Robby Grewal and starring Aamna Shariff and Aftab Shivdasani.

Also in the ReelWorld pipeline is an international premiere of Hong Kong's "Kung Fu Hip Hop," a Cantonese-language film about three dance-competition entrants from director Huayang Fu, and Jaffar Mahmood's "Shades of Ray," which stars Zachary Levi and Brian George.

Other U.S. films in the lineup include Gerald Barclay's "Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan" and Tyler Perry's "The Family That Preys."
